Matt’s Aftercare Instructions

  • I sent you home with a piece of plastic wrap over your tattoo, leave this wrap on your tattoo for no longer than 2 hours.

  • As soon as you can, remove the plastic wrap and wash your tattoo off with a non scented, antibacterial hand soap. Pat dry.

  • Moisturize your tattoo with either A&D or Aquaphor by using a thin layer and fully rubbing it in. If there’s a shiny residue left on the surface, you’ve used too much.

  • DO NOT  use any type of triple antibiotic, Vaseline, hydrogen peroxide or alcohol to moisturize or clean your tattoo.

  • After 5 days of using your ointment, you can switch to a gentle, non scented lotion.

  • Continue with a routine of washing and moisturizing your tattoo for 2 weeks, 3-4 times a day. Do not submerge your tattoo underwater for the full 2 weeks. Showers are perfectly fine, but no pools, bathtubs, lakes, etc.

  • Your tattoo will start to peel a thin layer of skin and feel very itchy. This is normal! Do not scratch your tattoo with your nails as this can cause scabbing. If it’s itchy, it’s probably dry. Lotion will help the itchy feeling.

  • If your tattoo develops a scab, DO NOT continue to moisturize it and DO NOT pick your scab off. We want the scab to dry up and fall off naturally and as quickly as possible. Moisturizing the scab will be counterproductive in this process and picking your scab off will take the ink with it.

  • Week 4, your tattoo should be fully healed! Apply sunscreen whenever outside to keep your tattoo looking nice and vibrant!

  • REACH OUT to me if you feel like anything is abnormal during the healing process!
